This has been a rocky year and a half for me. I lost my mom and step-dad. I scattered my mom's ashes in southern California in a beautiful place I know she loved. But so far, I haven't scattered my step-dad's ashes. He died on October 31st of 2014. I really do miss him. Should I scatter the ashes or should I just keep them as is?

So sorry for your losses, Sheryl. I think you should hold on to the ashes until you are certain where you want them to be. When you are ready the answer will come to you. In the meantime having his ashes close to you must be giving you some comfort. Keep them as long as you need to.

Thanks Debbie. I have a little vial on a necklace and I'm going to put a bit of my step-dad's ashes in that to keep with me when I finally do let go. He was really wonderful.

I still want to pick up the phone to call Mom when I see something funny. We had the same sense of humor. I hit lows when I realize she's gone.
