BellaOnline Forums Hobbies and Crafts Coin Collecting Copper and Nickle Coin Saving

I am hearing that pre1983 pennies are worth saving for their copper content, and that in 2014 nickels will no longer have actual nickle in them (they will be zinc like our current pennies). So people are starting to save nickles too.

Thoughts?

Guess it worth a try sooner or later, just thought with time went on, coins that no longer circulate in the market would become more valuable...Sorry, newbie for coin collecting, and much things on coins remained to be figure out if I want a clear plan on coins in the near future...

I too have heard of some collectors who are hoarding these copper cents. I have a couple of rolls but nothing to the extreme.... Silver and gold has gone down so I don't see copper going up any higher i the future as some believe.

I've decided it's actually fun to pore over pennies, looking for copper ones. It seems to be a cheap, harmless hobby.
