What are some of the characterics that you think make someone a professional?

I consider myself a professional writer because I've gotten paid to do it. However the litmus test for writers used to be whether or not you've ever gotten published. Things are changing now with the internet, blogging etc. I just read about a blogger who is making 40K a month. I doubt she thinks she needs a third party to legitimize her work.
