OK - this morning was one of those days thast made me question my sanity in becoming a mother.

My daughter and my oldest son have unfortunately inherited from me a "unibrow". I get my brows waxed, and my son does from time to time as well - and sometimes he just has me trim them to keep them neat looking.

My daughter is only 10, so I don't want her waxing yet, her skin is just too delicate. So I have one of those little trimmers that I use on her, because this year she has started becoming very concious about it.

Well...this morning she woke up and said she felt like she was going to throw up. I really didn't question that, because my husband, my 5 yr old, and me all have strep throat right now - and i figured she was probsbly coming down with it, too. So I kept her home from school and let her sleep in this morning. She was kind of hunched over, so I really didn't look closely at her.

So as soon as the pediatrician's office opens I make an appt to have her checked out. I wake her up and tell her to get dressed. She goes and puts a hoodie on, pulls her hair all around her face, pulls the hood down over her face and is hunching her shoulders.

Now, I figure she is wearing makeup, because she put some on at school yesterday, and I told her I didn't want her wearing makeup for more than special occasions until she was 13. So I tell her to take her hood down.

It's not makeup - she has no eyebrows! She decided to trim her own eyebrows last night, and shaved them completely off. Aaaauuuuggghh! eek

I tried to get onto her, but then I just busted out laughing. I couldn't help it. I am like about to bust a gut. It was so funny - she is completely bald on the face.

Some of you may remember, but this is the same child that cut her waist length hair all off when she was 3.

I think I'm retiring from motherhood...

Thanks Michelle, LOL I really need to hear that. My four year old recently gave Barbie a haircut so I know these issues are in my future.

Michelle, this is hysterical! How you cope with it is very admirable. I sincerely hope your daughter will not be subject to ridicule over this 'no brow' thing. Can you draw some on with a brow pencil? My son and daughter both were very independent and strong willed at an early age, so I totally empathize with you.

Just think of all the wonderful stories you will have as time goes by. Thanks for perking up my morning!!!

So, Michelle, does this mean she wasn't sick at all? Was she trying to stay home to hide it?

That's priceless. My daughter keeps giving herself a haircut, right at the bangs. Her 14 year old sister did it at 3. Eyebrows, though...at least you can draw them in!

You handled it great, too. I wish all moms were so cool.

She was sick to her stomach - but I think it was psychosomatic from worrying about the other kids.

When her dad and I were going through the divorce (whe was one) she was vomiting all the time. Her pediatrician, who happened to be a friend from church as well, said he thought she was developing a pre-ulcerous condition. And whenever she gets really upset about something, she gets sick.

It has gotten much better over the years, but it still happens every now and then - which is why I didn't force her to go to school afterwards. And I did go ahead and take her to the doctor, because 3 of us DO have strep. I figured it would be my luck, if I didn't take her, she'd start running a 102 fever at 2 AM. But no strep, just stress.

And we went by Ulta afterwards and the makeup consultant helped us with finding a good way to "draw" in her brows until hers grow back. Unless you are right up in her face, it doesn't look too bad.

Yes, isn't that the way, if you don't go to the doctor that is when she'd be the sickest. Murphy's law!

That was nice to take her to a makeup consultant afterward.

That's hilarious! A new twist on cutting your own hair, for sure.

One of my girls is going to be in serious need of brow maintenance, I can already tell. I've read that if you pluck or wax the brows when they are too young that the hair might not grow back (like that's a bad thing?) but I can't imagine what it would take to get a little one to hold still long enough to do any good.
