What's going on here in
Arp 87? Two large galaxies are interacting. There is a bridge of stars, gas and dust stretching over 75,000 light years connecting them. Such interactions are drawn out over billions of years, with the galaxies getting closer, interacting, moving apart again. But eventually they will merge into one.
