Recently, I've seen quite a few ready-made journaling books that give prompts for making lists. This is reminding me that journaling does not have to be death-defyingly literate essay-writing. A few years ago, I kept a travel journal by making lists of different things, places, and topics that interested me. The one I remember best is the list called "Italian Food and Drink Discoveries." I don't know for sure what happened to that journal, but I remember some of the items on that list!

I'm going to challenge journalers to submit journaling prompts for listmaking here. I will start:

Oh I like your idea. Journaling has always been very difficult for me to maintain, although it is something I think I should make more of an effort to do. Perhaps with the writing prompts, that would make things a little easier.

Oh I LOVE journaling, and I'll journal on just about anything.

One of my most regular practices is my gratitude journal. I used to be a complainer - and what I learned is that complaining didn't fix ANYthing in my life. And it kept me stuck.

By keeping a gratitude journal, where I list ten things I am grateful for each day, and don't repeat myself at all during a one week period, what I found was there were SOOOOO many more things to appreciate that I hadn't notice before.

Like a neighbor's landscaped yard.
I don't have any laundry to do today.
I have beautiful music to listen to.

On harder days:
I have a roof over my head.
It's not raining rocks.
I woke up on the right side of the grass LOL!!

I really believe if we aren't expressing gratitude, we are taking our life for granted!
