Exactly two years ago I put up my first article on astronomy for BellaOnline. What Herschel Found in a Dark Cloud was about the largest space telescope ever sent into space: the European Space Agency's Herschel Space Observatory. It was named in honor of William and Caroline Herschel whose astronomical partnership in the 18th century laid the foundations of modern astronomy.

The Herschel telescope observes in the infrared, so it's been getting fantastic pictures that penetrate the dust of nebulae and the Galactic Center.

On the left is a stellar nursery in the constellation of Vulpecula.
