I have a friend who needs me to help her come up with a workable pattern for a skirt she can wear to her job. She can't wear denim anymore, hence the emergency. Once I get a pattern that works and produce the first skirt, she gets to learn how to make her own skirts. . .yeee-hah! She couldn't find a RTW skirt that will work, and couldn't find pattern for what she wants either, so she brought me a jeans pattern for the 5-pocket style, a cargo pant pattern for the cargo pockets she wants on the sides, and a basic A-line skirt pattern for the foundation to put it all on. She also brought me one of her old denim skirts that fits to compare to the patterns. Does anyone have a clue where I'd even begin on this project?. . .are there any books out there on this topic? I don't even know what to put in as a search string to find info on this. I tried "grafting sewing patterns" and came up empty.
Here is the search string I just used:

combining skirt patterns

It brought up several sites for combining patterns.
