Knitting row 4 of the dishcloth pattern and I encountered a knot! This is a new 2 oz. skein of variegated cotton yarn by Sugar 'n Cream.

Since I could not bear to start over, I decided to keep the knot in and call it a design element.

I assume the knot is there because of the manufacturing process. Maybe the yarn was joined to make up a full skein.

Has anyone ever come across a knot in a new skein of yarn? Did you start over?

Yes I have and like you I just leave them, gives it character because usually mine show up in the middle.

Hi,

When I first encountered a knot I thought it was kind of tacky because I spent almost $10 a skein and there was a bump!!! But now I've learned to forgive and cover up better... <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I thought of another reason to leave the knot as is. The manufacturer's knot is more professional and probably better than anything I can tie.

I only know how to tie one knot. I think it's called the "granny" knot. tut
