I started this topic so we can talk about positive things that have happened to us. What happened today for you that was positive and made you feel good about yourself? What did you do for yourself to make yourself feel better? Did you read and inspirational quote that moved you? Post it here. I get an email every other day with inspirational quotes in it. Here is today's quote...

I know many of you know I am remarried since i left my abuse. My husband volunteers at the school here where we live. We got a letter in the mail yesterday telling us that he has been nominated as volunteer of the month for one of the elementary schools he volunteers at! he coaches and mentors the kids in chess club to help the go to a tournament in the spring here in Cincinnati!

I am thankful for the friends that God has brought in my life to help me deal with the continuing issues w my boys. God always provides us with new hope!

This is actually a positive moment for the month for our family. My husband and his daughter reunited Tuesday after not seeing each other since 2001. Not by their choice. She is over 18 now and has 2 gorgeous little girls that she lets call me grandma She is staying until right after Thanksgiving.

I needed to hear this today. Thank you, Jeanette.

This is wonderful news! I did not know that you had remarried but it sounds like he is a keeper! Enjoy being a grandma! You are blessed.

My dear Jeanette,

I do not know Mr j.k.Rowling,however,the word impossible should
not even exist.Napoleon Bonaparte,once said,Impossible is not
french.
I agree with the man.I beleive Mr Rowling is the one that lived
too cautiously.
Everything that is honest, I have tried,and was successful at it.

I am a simple man,with a desire to succeed.In 2 years,I became a Tennis Pro,I did drag racing building my own car.Played semi pro hockey at 35 as a goaltender.
I have vanquished 3 mental deseases,Part of my brain is destroyed
due to alcool abuse 36 years ago,that started me on my PATH,
I have had 5 heart operations,the first one ,I had one chance out of a hundred to survive,I am writing to you.Both my knees
need surgery,I have 8 tears,too much sports.No pain exists because I decided so.

So my dear Jeanette,as you can see if one decides nothing but
nothing is impossible.

What positive things are happening in your life right now? I am grateful for the beautiful weather we are having today before the storms start again. I am grateful it is my slow week at work. I am also happy the kids are both almost over this nasty head and chest cold they caught!

Fear doesn't make you a coward.....what makes you a coward is not being able to face it

Not being able to face fear is complicated!

There's that saying that there's nothing to fear but fear itself...but -

Sometimes actually all of the time, dealing w/fear because we are beings in human form, has to kind of pretty much actually be faced, Mentally, Spiritually..........AND....the hardest if you're in one of these types of situations:

Physically ~ motionally~ (as in trying to get out of the situation you're in).

I feel strongly women, abused, men abused, needs to be broken down into those 3 groups in order for it to work!

I feel strongly that in many cases, the abuser to the abused, is in actuality a source of empowerment for the victim.

Basically, it's fearful for them to leave as if they're even less than what they already feel their abuser is making them feel

This is a quote I found, and this is pretty much where I'm at: Imagine your life without the abuse, now hold tight to that and move one well placed step at a time. People are going to make it harder than they should. People will NOT understand all the time. Don't take it personally, keep moving.

It's a hard ha habit/cycle to break free from. It can sometimes feel near impossible, but it's very possible.

I wish people who lived closer, I could conduct some sort of support, informative group, whatever the cause. Not specifically abuse. It's amazing when a group of people get a chance to let it all hang out, not feel judged, release and all of the sudden, creativity steps up to whatever it is.

It is a one step at a time process. Having a place to go, grabbing your essentials, transportation, waking up the morning after wondering if you've made a mistake or if it can possibly be fixed? They weren't always abusive For a year or 3 they were the type of person you felt loved you and you loved back or felt you could help...they have to want to help themselves.
