Each year, Trafalgar Square, London, hosts what is arguably the most famous Christmas tree in the world, but just what is so notable about this tree?

I didn't see the lights turned on, but I was at the National Portrait Gallery for an event that night. So I saw the preparations for the lighting. When I came out, they were packing up the stands and the lights were on. Quite a sight.
I'd quite like to take my little girl down to London to see it this year - probably not the big switch on, but just the tree itself.

She keeps asking when we are going to London to see the Queen, so to take her to see the palace at Christmas time and then to see what Christmas in London is like would be wonderful.

I've never been to the National Portrait Gallery - do you visit it often?

That sounds quite lovely! They have similar trees in New York City but that is a madhouse around Christmas. I went two years ago and it was wall-to-wall people.
