Dear Jaga,

The Grom, and yes, a very formorable unit. We know of them here and depend upon their expertise.

As a by the by. Many of the weapons used, are Heckler-Koch model 91.

These are nato 762 mm (winchester 308)very excellent and very capable weapons.

Hi Everyone,

I just want to Thank You for all the wonderful
links about GROM. I have read about them and
I'm PROUD to be Polish.

I only wish that more was said about them on
T.V. so that more Americans could learn about
them. I dislike it when I hear Polish jokes and
other nasty things that some say about Polish people.

Barbara, I dislike ethnic jokes too.

GROM doesn't want publicity-its work is highly classified. Carl

GROM super-production is planned

Filming of the new Polish super-production 'GROM' is due to begin in 2004.
This will be the contemporary story highlighting the people of a special
military unit. The script, written by Cezary Harasimowicz, is largely
based on actual events. 'Work on this script was a fascinating adventure.
It involved penetrating Poland's recent history and had the makings of a
sensational film. This is an uplifting film showing people for whom such
concepts as "honour" and "country" are not empty slogans,' Cezary
Harasimowicz said. 'GROM' will be a sensational epic film. It will have a
fast-moving plot in which fictional elements will be closely intertwined
with historical truth. 'The action begins at the start of the 1990s. The
government of Tadeusz Mazowiecki agreed to the transit of Russian Jews
from the Soviet Union to Israel. The threat of terrorism appeared over
Poland, and then interior minister Krzysztof Kozowski decided to call a
special anti-terrorist unit into being. We want to show how GROM emerged
and how recruitment was carried out. Only the very best were good enough.
Candidates had to be not only physically fit but also phenomenally
educated. Most of them were married, because such people are usually more
prudent and responsible. And does anyone really know whether a women's
detachment doesn't already exist within GROM? In the film we will show the
training system and the atmosphere prevailing in the unit, in which
swearing was not permitted and nobody engaged in the typical army-style
shouting. In our picture we shall reveal many details which have only just
recently been declassified after many years,' Cezary Harasimowicz said.
The film will include footage from GROM's first mission, Operation 'Uphold
Democracy' in Haiti and several other actions in which Polish soldiers
took part, although they remain relatively unknown to the general public.
