I voted Other.
My Hair only changes when I either trim a tiny bit or it gets longer. After a few years of my hair being around 30" measured from forehead back I am now down to 36". I did a trim yesterday of about .7" and am trimming 4 times this year with .5-1" planned each time.

This is a chart of my trimmings

I use a self trimming method from this page
http://feyeselftrim.livejournal.com/
Which many with long hair have used in the past 2-3 years with success.

Edited to add: I have been growing out since 1994 when I had my last actual cut. It was like a 3" pixie type style then. But I did not grow it out in a hurry. I did stay at certain lengths at times.
I throught my life have changed my hairstyles but not too often. When i was a little girl I was treated like a little princess barbie doll so I had spiral perms :P but as I got into elementary and away from my grandma lol I left it straight and grew it out probably to your 36' mark or a bit longer. In grade 10 I was known for my hair it was long and shiney omg it was nice but a friend of mine stabbed me in the back and convinced me to cut it off to my shoulders :0 later to find out she did it so she would win a contest coming up. Since then I have changed more in personality and have gone many diffrent colors but never cutting it to drastically. I love my long hair and its a conversation starter sometimes. Plus the guys really like it too!!! Now that I am a mom I am more conservative with my looks but I try to fun with it by doing some new up do.
I put other, because I change my hairstyle (or color!) whenever the mood strikes me, LOL.

I consider my hair hust another accessory, like earrings or a scarf. A lot of people seem shocked by this, but my philosophy is "It will grow out."

The only thing I have only done once and never done again is get a perm - big mistake for me.
I use to cut my hair when I broke up with a guy. The shorter the hair, the crazier the breakup. When my husband and I met, my hair was so short that it was shaved in the back. Now, I cut my hair when I think about it. Every once in a while, I get a wild hair (no pun) and decide to cut it all off.

I change my hairstyle when I get tired of the style I have or if I see a really nice style that I like...

I don't really look at the time of year...

recently I cut my hair because the longer length (it had finally gotten long enough to get caught in my neck when i turned my head) was annoying the [censored] out of me. The main reason I cut it short from least 30" in the first place was my having a boyfriend that forbade me to cut it.
THe shorter length (4-6") works for me as I have lots of wave and thin hair
I change every few years or so- though mix up the hilite color scheme occassionally as well.
Wow, it looks like there is a BIG difference between Spring and Fall for changing hairstyles. I wonder why.
I suspect that perhaps as far as going shorter, that most would get a cut in Spring or Summer when they'd want less hair or to get it off their neck etc.

When I did my only cut from Neck length to pixie length it was early April. But I don't think it was anything to do with the weather for me. It had more to do with it being a few days after I turned 18 and was able to make my own choice.
probably the wrong time, but when I am depressed.
I leave mine long in winter, because I wear alot of hats. I want to have hair sticking out. In Spring and summer, I wear baseball caps and it doesn't matter as much.
My hair is the type that pretty much looks the same no matter what I do to it, and it doesn't grow very fast. I cut it occasionally, of course, and it's been as long as to my lower back and as short as as my ears. The same shape either way, LOL.

The major development of recent months was my discovery of ceramic flatirons. It's like magic. Really, really slow magic that involves trying not to burn yourself.
My hair has all gone, vanished, vamooshed (I'm a baldy, but still sexy) so no need for a haircut at all really. But I do like a nice polish sometimes, and I need to keep the little bis left at the side trimmed or they stick out like a cactus. Not one of those cactuses that make you go funny, but a real western cactus. I saw lots of those the other day when I went hiking up the Rockies*. I went rather too far and ended up getting a rubby knee (ouch) still hurts now. I guess that's the problem with getting on, but I'm still sexy and...anyway, forget all that. Haircuts...right. Damn (sorry) this knee still hurts, can't be my age as I'm only 27, and that's the truth. Shame about the hair though, I used to have such wonderful curls *sigh*. Anyway...knees....no, forget all that...haircuts! I've forgotten what I was going to say now. Just pretend I didn't post this.

I still think it's very interesting that so many people change their hair in the spring and some at spring and fall but very few people with change their hairstyle just during the fall.

I guess that in the spring everyone has so many expectations and since it is getting warm, they can cut it short but I think they just change it without going shorter - just the style. Maybe everyone is thinking hybernation in the fall and it really isn't a particularly exciting time of the year.
I wonder if having kids has anything to do with that?

Fall is back to school time so maybe the parents are going to the salon but only getting a trim or only having the kids hair done? I'm not a parent so I'm only guessing.

I just think it has to do with the warmer weather coming.

Don't end up like what a collegue at my work once had: she dies her hair herself and tried a different package, something completely new.
So she applies the color and turns up ORANGE! Luckily for her, she had to take the kids for a trim for the start of school, so she could go. Needless to say, the hairdresser didn't have to ask whether she needed help or the kids...

Not only didn she think the different package would have the same effect, she also thought I wouldn't see a thing. She just walked in and took her seat, while I almost dropped my jaw. I yelled "Oh my God......" for the entire room and she gave a mixed look of laughing and crying.

Fall for me resembles something like this experience: both parents and kids have to look nice, so both use the season of fall to change something or get a trim, because when school finally is there, there isn't much free time any more.
I chose other because there is really not a time frame, it's just whenever I get a wild hair. The last time I changed it was about 6 mos ago. I would say on average, I get bored with it after a year. The longest I ever kept a hair cut was three years. I do have friends that never change their hair, it is odd to see a 30 year old woman walking around with 80's hair. Not a good trend then, and not any better in 2006...lol
Hello! I am new here, and don't know if you have done this already, but you could donate 12 inches of hair to St Judes. That would be a big change in your hairstyle. lol
Keep in mind all the television shows and quite a lot of summer blockbusters come out around spring time as well.

I have a bad habit of wanting to to do drastic things to my hair about once a month! In my old age (30) lol.. I have learned to curb that particular craving. In fact, right now, I have no idea what to do with my hair and have been leaving it be for fear of over processing it.
I do know that I was tired of wavy/curly hair and wanted poker straight hair, so I used a chemical straightner on it! I really think that was the dumbest thing I have done to date! I am trying to post a picture soon, maybe someone can give me some ideas on what color they think would look best on my head!!
Welcome to the forum. Changing your hair once a month can lead to problems after a while! I've been through that phase of life before.

Thanks for posting and I hope you'll come back.
Whenever I feel like it.
