Have you ever had a boss that you thought "just dosen't know a thing.? Do you think you're smarter then your boss? If so, how do you know?
I don't think I'm smarter, but I use better reasoning when a situation comes up. For instance..I drive a bus. If I have a situation happen that requires a road call it can put me 20 to 30 min late. Knowing the schedule for my route, there's a bus that should be after me that will be running about 5 min before me. I'll ask permission to dead head to the start of my next route to try to keep some semblance of a time schedule. The answer invariably comes back...no...run it out. It's like he's afraid I'm trying to get something past him. Not good customer service.
There are definitely bosses out there that are afraid that their employees are after their jobs and try to be difficult on purpose.

I think smarter is hard to define and not necessarily the most important thing in a boss or employee. Twice early in my career I was promoted to management and it taught me that managing people is not what interests me or where I want to go in my career. That doesn't make me smarter or dumber than my manager, just good and/or interested in different things.

Employee can be smarter than their boss, but it is very difficult to out focus your boss or over rule him. In office one needs to act both politically and skillfully.
My boss is not a "people person". He doesn't seem to like managing people, so he just avoids it. He is a huge control freak and meetings are always confrontational. It actually makes for a hostile work environment. At a previous employer, I was a manager, and I always did what I could to help my employees be successful. I'm fairly confident that has never even occurred to my boss. From that perspective, yes I am smarter than my boss.
Well some people may find it arrogant but for me it is confidence. With so much of option around why won't you become your own business and start working independently. HI Online,
That's true. Eventually people get so tired and disillusioned working for others they start their own company. They definitely can't be smarter then themselves...lol...
I've found hands down that it is precisely the arrogance that makes the employee smarter than the boss who almost seems to be too confident. They overlook the obvious and the smart employee doesn't always wait for permission or overpowering to branch out. They just do it and usually successfully too because they're more determined with the passion to make it.
Yeah quite right. Smart and confident employees do succeeds in a long run. But it must be a combination of both "talent and confidence". I have seen a lot of employee who were quite confident but still under the shadows of their boss as they don't have much of courage to override their bosses.
