Hi Everyone:

Not meaning to "limit" any responses at all, but needed to know if there are any other 50+ out there.

Reason: I am age 52 and at that age range where you are considered a "senior" but not. And by this I mean, alot places required you to be at least 55 to be considered a senior.

Question: Anyone out there between the ages of 50 and 54? If yes, give me a holler - have some questions for you if you do not mind.

Thanks - love this site - just found it after finally getting some FREE to to explore the entire site.

U funny Granny! Didn't I just leave you at home (Walking Site)?
Posted By: "Rosie" Re: Anyone in their 50's? - 09/05/10 08:33 PM
I'm not between 50 + 54
But I've been there
I think over 65 you should be considered a senior
But yet it's just a number your as young as you feel
But its great to get that senior discount wink

50's are seniors? That just wrecked my weekend, I am double nickel. I figured it to be middle age or so....
Posted By: Angela J. Shirley Re: Anyone in their 50's? - 09/06/10 01:27 AM
Diana:

U funny!

Seniors are called any age depending on what they are trying to AVOID giving you (lol).

Some places give your a discount at age 55 and some make you wait until 65. Interesting!

Me, it is but a number and I only ACT senior when I want the "discount" (giggling).

WHAT THE---?!?! You just depressed me, Angela!!! I just turned 50 in July. I did not realize that made me an official senior!!!

Say it ain't so! Why do I still feel like a 30-something?!?!

This is too too weird for me.

I turned 50 in November and am a proud card-carrying AARP member.

This was the year to change my life and so far, I have done well. 50 is the new 30. 60 is the new 40.......
Posted By: Lori - Marriage Re: Anyone in their 50's? - 09/06/10 02:57 AM
Well, no wonder I feel 30. smile

I'm with Dianne - one year to go and in no hurry to rush into that milestone. Hubby just turned 50 this year.
Posted By: Lori - Marriage Re: Anyone in their 50's? - 09/06/10 04:07 AM
It's just weird to me, that's all. I feel great! I love life and am grateful for all of my life experiences. Seems that I am at peace with everything now.

I've just dropped all the fettering petty anxieties to embrace the joy of *now*.
Posted By: sara1955 Re: Anyone in their 50's? - 09/06/10 03:14 PM
I know of one place that offers a senior discount at 50. Frankly, I'm embracing my senior years as they come on. Mainly for the discounts LOL
Posted By: WalkingGranny Re: Anyone in their 50's? - 09/06/10 03:21 PM
Hey girls I carry a Medicare Card now. My mind thinks I'm 15 and my body screams 105

fishHey guys!

ENJOYED reading the posts - thanks SO MUCH for taking the time to respond.

And Granny, I got to keep you "locked up" at home on the family's WALKING site (lol).

On the serious side, love your pictures in your post Granny. You keep our family site ALIVE and INTERESTING and glad to see you are doing the same at the neighbor's too-SENIOR LIVING (lol).

Bottom line, you are as old as you let yourself be. My boyfriend is 56 and does not look it as he has a "bald" head (lol). The only way you can tell is when he does not shave - yep those gray hairs surface. He does have some in his goatee when he grows one.

Me, got a few in my hair and refuse to dye them. He has no problem with it, but you know those folks who just got to SAY something (lol). But they are learning, I am who I AM.....
Posted By: WalkingGranny Re: Anyone in their 50's? - 09/06/10 09:41 PM
I'm almost totally gray and proud of it. I earned every one of those hairs. I almost freaked though when my eyebrows started graying...
Posted By: Angela J. Shirley Re: Anyone in their 50's? - 09/06/10 09:51 PM
fishMy eyebrows are still dark brown and so are his.
Posted By: WalkingGranny Re: Anyone in their 50's? - 09/07/10 01:39 PM
Remember, I've got 10-15 years on ya... smile
Posted By: Beetlemess Re: Anyone in their 50's? - 09/07/10 04:23 PM
I may be getting older, but REFUSE to grow up.

I qualify for this thread...
Posted By: WalkingGranny Re: Anyone in their 50's? - 09/07/10 05:15 PM
Getting older is inevitable growing up is optional. smile

LOVE the quote, Granny. smile so true...

fishAnd you have to LIVE each DAY as if it is your LAST = make each day "special"..... Too many times as we "mature"(refuse to use old/lol) we forget that there are so many things we have not experienced as yet. One of my dreams is to take a trip in a helicopter. Yep, never been in one and it may be age 100 before I get to - but I am going (lol).
Posted By: YogaEditor Re: Anyone in their 50's? - 09/08/10 12:24 AM
53 here. 50 is definitely the new 30. I love it. I feel like I'm still a young woman - just a lot smarter than I used to be!

fishAmen to that Nancy. Wish I knew what I NOW know about life when I was in my 20's and completely "clueless" back then (lol). Thanks for sharing!
Posted By: Lori - Marriage Re: Anyone in their 50's? - 09/08/10 05:33 PM
Yay, Nancy! I love that! And, it's true, we *are* wiser! I wouldn't trade wisdom for youth, would you? But it's nice to have both (since we're the new 30!) wink

I can't stress enough the importance of exercise to us new 30-somethings! It really makes you feel great and I think it helps your body produce more youthful hormones.
Posted By: Angela J. Shirley Re: Anyone in their 50's? - 09/09/10 12:04 AM
fishLori, the exercise is IMPORTANT - I am 100 percent in agreement with you on that. It is what keeps me "calm" while I go through menopause (lol). And of course it keeps me CUTE too (giggling).

Truer words were never spoken. I have a "bucket list" some things I've already done.

fishGranny, what is a "bucket list?"

fishSo you guys are going to make me go see the movie (lol). Come on, be NICE and share (giggling).

On the serious side, I will try to see the movie SOON - I promise.

*I drove by your site - do you still post or am I missing the newer stuff? As far as I can see, you posted March 2009 "Hope Chest." Awesome site.

The Bucket List was a great movie!! I personally found it to be rather inspiring. I won't give a spoiler as to the end. I think you will enjoy it Ms. Angela...lol...

fishDianne Career, you are not going to tell me either (lol).

So what is on YOUR bucket list? I have to give mine a lot more thought.
Posted By: Angela J. Shirley Re: Anyone in their 50's? - 09/11/10 07:42 PM
fishSo Lori, you know what a "bucket list" is? (lol) If yes, please tell as I have no idea and do not know when I will get to see the movie.

Without giving the movie away...it's the list of things you want to do or accomplish before smile you kick the bucket...
Posted By: Angela J. Shirley Re: Anyone in their 50's? - 09/12/10 12:38 AM
fishYou are all a TRIP(lol) - someone want to send me the movie?

So from what Granny said, anyone has their list started? I do and keep adding - and guess what is the "newest" addition. Any guesses?

(giggling) The bucket list movie - sorry could not resist.
Posted By: sara1955 Re: Anyone in their 50's? - 09/12/10 02:50 AM
LOL so the beginning of your bucket list is: *drum roll* The Bucket List (seriously, you have GOT to see it!).

We found the movie at our library -- love free "rentals" LOL
Posted By: Dianne W - Editor Re: Anyone in their 50's? - 09/12/10 02:59 AM
Sara - Free rentals are fantasic! We are also lucky to still have a Dollar Video store. All DVD's rent at $1 a night. The only thing is their movies tend to be on the newer side.

I do keep a running request at our library for movies we want to see.
Posted By: Angela J. Shirley Re: Anyone in their 50's? - 09/12/10 04:21 AM
fishOkay, I guess I have to ask my daughter to take me to the library (lol).
