When my eldest daughter was in kindergarten, I was one of the room mothers.

I baked a cake for the class Halloween party. On the top, I frosted the center in the shape of a ghost, with chocolate icing surrounding it. 2 egg shell halves left over from the ingredients (thoroughly washed) were set into the frosting where eyes would be. I put a sugar cube into each half shell and doused it with lemon extract. The lights were turned down in the class and each eye was ignited for a spooky entrance.

It was fun and I think I'll make one for my grandchildren this year.

Amy, that's a great idea. I love Halloween, so much that I worry that I post too many articles for Halloween Desserts. I think my grandchildren would love a ghost cake with flaming eyes, so that's one I'll surely do this year. How about everyone else? What fun Halloween ideas do you have for this year, or what are you planning to serve?
