Hello friends, I am a new member and already have a question. I have an old pair of pillowcases, embroidered and appliqued with the ladies who wear sunbonnets or hats, dressed in beautiful gowns. I think they might be called colonial, or have seen some with parasols. I want to make some of these and can't find any patterns. Can anyone tell me where to order the patterns for these beautifully dressed women? I want to dom some pillowcases with both the embroidery and applique.thank you, nana3
Hi Nana3,
This could be a couple different patterns. Look for redwork patterns, Sun Bonnet Sue.
Kate greenaway patterns may also be a option.
www.yesterdaycharms.com has some beautiful patterns.

These were usally called "crinoline ladies" because of their skirts and have been very popular with traced linen for many years.

The embroidery world has yet to discover the charm of freestyle embroidery, and so it is very hard to find patterns for these.

You may want to put a piece of paper over the embroidery and trace off a pattern yoursef.
