My husband and I (and our mini-dachshund Oscar)will be spending a couple of weeks in Rockport MA and Portland/York ME in June.

Recommendations for the best lobster places?

I have heard about Woodman's of Essex which is suppose to be a great place for lobster but have not tried it yet. Very casual and informal.

There is a place (and I believe it is in Rockport) that I went to that was great for lobster but is very casual. You order the lobster they crack for you and serve it in a cardboard container with lemon and butter. I took my outside to a park bench along the water and had the best lobster ever! I will try to recall the name if you are interested.

Sounds like a great vacation plan - have you been to New England before?

Thank you so much for the suggestions and the link - I've made a copy for our trip. We're getting "Lobsta" hungry. It's not always easy to find "dog friendly" places. Mostly if we can eat outside it's okay.

We've been to New England several times - it's one of our very favorite summer places.

My mom and I used to go to Mass Eye & Ear in Boston each year for her annual visit. Now my husband and I (and Oscar) drive from AZ for a few weeks along the MA and ME shore. It is so beautiful! Well worth the days and days in the car.

Try Warren's Lobster House it is in Kittery, ME, you'd have to get off 'tha pike' to get there but it is just over the bridge from Portsmouth NH.

I won a lobster dinner for two there once. Both of our lobsters were well over 10lb ea. Quite the surprise win for me
