Maple syrup is what I top my pancakes with. My family also uses butter. My favorite kind of pancakes are chocolate chip!!

Mmm. We love the traditional maple syrup and butter (real butter). But we also love fresh fruits and whipped cream. Caramel and toasted nuts are good, too.

But then, is it really a breakfast or dessert?

In Holland the pancakes are more like crepes. We like them thin and then roll them up like wrap, with the filling inside. Our favorite is bacon and maple syrup, or egg whites with sugar, whipped to stiff peaks and topped with strawberry jam, or warm vanilla custard. And in the summer vanilla ice cream with warm chocolate sauce. Not really healthy though...

I love that... is it breakfast or dessert? Have you tried topping your pancakes with home made fresh stewed fruit? Would anyone on this forum thread be interested in me posting some recipes for home made stewed fruit? The kids will love it, and it's so much healthier then buying jelly or jam!

Yum! Chocolate chips inside of pancakes are a big "like" for most kids! I think I will try to make a cleaned up healthy version of chocolate chip pancakes! Thank you for your comment! queen

Yes, Kymberly, I would love a healthy stewed fruit recipe!

Vicky, those crepes sound delicious. Fruit-flavored meringue is interesting. We usually don't eat eggs--yolks or whites--here in the US unless they are cooked. At least more recently so.

I am going to try to make crepes!

We love real maple syrup on our pancakes. I also like to crush some fresh or thawed fruit and add a little maple syrup to that as a topping. My favorite addition to pancake batter is blueberries!
Blue Agave syrup is lovely, too!
