I recently visited a site where a discussion was going on about dating and finding love after turning 50. Men say women are self-centered and are just looking for men with money at this age, and women say that men at 50 just want to play around with younger women. The men and women who genuinely want something meaningful with someone their age are frustrated because it's hard to find a quality mate.

What do you think? Do you have experiences you'd like to share?
It seems to be a popular opinion that women in their 50's should be encouraged to date much younger men. I don't personally feel comfortable with that. What do you think?
I met my husband at age 52 and he was 51.5 so that is roughly even. We were both looking for the same things: an interest in growing spiritually and a good companionship. After 18 years it is still working out. smile
That's great, Susan! Thanks for sharing smile
I also wouldn't feel comfortable dating a man 10 years or more younger - that was about my limit to not feel a generation gap. smile
I feel the same way, Susan. Even then, 10 years younger to me is pushing it. I guess I will just have to see what the future brings!
I've been reading that many women have taken women's liberation to a whole new level. They are successful enough at their work that they don't feel they need the good men they have in their lives anymore. They are getting bored with their quality husbands and boyfriends and ditching them for the exciting "bad boy". If it didn't work out in high school to have the bad boy, I don't think it will work out now. I'd give anything for a nice man who respects women and is willing to give of himself in a relationship. Seems that many of these good guys are being left behind. I just don't understand this, but I can now understand why men are so confused as to what women want these days.
