I write about beer, but my mom has always hated beer. Lately, she'll taste it and admit that some is "pretty good," but she still would never order it in a restaurant. How about yours?

Guess what?! I served My 85-year-old mom a glass of wine and a glass of Lindeman's Framboise (beer) at the same time for Mother's Day. She saw the beautiful pink body and the soft pink head of the beer and was immediately in love. To my surprise, she drank the entire glass of beer and the wine glass was still full!

After a big meal, I served a special treat for dessert: Lemon pound cake with chocolate swirl frozen yogurt, drizzled with that vey same Lindeman's framboise. Everyone had dessert (a rare thing among this crowd) and nearly licked the plate clean!

My comments: The sweetness of the cake and frozen yogurt was contrasted by the tartness of the raspberry beer. It was a fantastic combination! Really fantastic! This will definiely have a encore performance in the future.
Here's another beer for a mom who thinks she hates beer. Infinium, a collaboration beer between Sam Adams and Weihenstephan. Serve it in champagne flutes. Mom loved it - had several glasses!!!

My mom loved beer. It was her beverage of choice! Everyone else would be having a cocktail and she would order a beer. I personally don't care for the smell of beer so I rarely drink it.

Carolyn,
I love the article and the pictures are fabulous! I had never seen my mom drink anything until last year on the autotrain - she had a sip of wine. I doubt it I will ever see her drink beer...LOL...

I'm not a beer drinker either, I used to in college, but only because I was "following the crowd." I really never liked the taste, so I would mix it with coca-cola in a glass...yes, I know I grossed out a lot of people with THAT drink, but it actually made the beer taste pretty good.
