Whooo hooo!! Australia have qualified for the Football (Soccer) World cup after going to a penalty shoot out against Uruguay.

The absolute astonishing thing is - who would have thought that 85,000 people would go to a Soccer match in Australia?

<sigh> Just goes to show that not only are we a sports-mad nation - but we're also 100% willing to get behind any Australian sporting team!

AND we're doing remarkably well in the second test against the Windies too!

Indeed we did do well in the second test, although I'm still waiting to see some more of that ol' Windie fire. Maybe in the third test.

LOL. Apparently Federation Square (Melbourne) was packed with people watching the soccer on the big screen. And to think just before the game I heard someone say they didn't believe anyone in Victoria would watch something called "football" that had nothing to do with Aussie Rules! ;-)
