What is your favorite dish? Did you try it in Southeast Asia? Do you have it as a take out at home? What makes it so special?

Do you prepare it at home?
I used to work at a Indonesian restaruant. One of our most popular dishes was Pad Thai. I personally didn't like it. My favorite dish was chicken sate with peanut sauce.
Chicken sate with peanut sauce is one of my favorites, too. Does anyone out there have a recipe? I would like to try preparing the dish this summer. Thanks in advance.

What else do our readers like? What is your favorite Chinese food?
My favourite Southeast Asian Cuisine is Thai, with Vietnamese second. When we are in each country we try to sample as many local favourites as possible. Indonesian, Burmese, Malayasian, Cambodian, and Laos foods are all very good, but for us there is nothing like the exciting foods in Thailand, especially the food in the Northeast which is called Isan. Isan food is a unique combibnation of the typical Thai dishes, but with many sour vegetables added. Snack or drink foods are very popular and wonderful.

No not all Thai dishes are hot. Many are quite simple fair without any chiles. Fresh, sweet seafood often steamed in banana leaf, or radna style noodles with various ingredients with chile condiments served on the side. You can always ask them to make any dish "farang" style no phrik kee nu. Farang is a person of European heritage. If like us you like hot then ease into real Thai taste foods.

If you want to take a holiday where the food is fabulous and very affordable-go to Thailand. The country has recovered from the Tsunami and they need our tourist dollars to recover the economy. You will have a difficult time finding any evidence of this disaster other than too many idle restaurants and empty hotels. Great time to take advantage of the bargain prices and beat the crowds back to the Kingdom of Thailand.
Thai is my favourite Southeast Asian Cuisine. I love Tom Yam Kung soup which is a Thai sour soup with prawn. Kung means prawn in Thai language. If you allergic to prawn then you can order Tom Yam Kay, which is the same soup like Tom Yam Kung but with chicken. Another Thai dish that I like is fried noodle with basil leaves with ground beef. It is so delicious. yummy...
my favorite asian cuisine is Philippines "kare-kare"! It's a combination of oxtail and vegetables with peanut butter! yummy... just can't get enough of it!
i love cantonese cuisines!
Pardon me for this is not actually "cuisine" but it is the all time Malaysia favorite, for tea/breakfast....
1/2 cup self-raising flour
1/4 cup corn flour
1 tbsp rice flour
Pinch of salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
180ml water or just enough
5-6 bananas, halved
Enough oil for deep-frying

Method
Combine the various flours, salt and baking powder in a mixing bowl. Pour in water and combine into a batter.

Coat banana halves in batter and deep-fry in hot oil for three to four minutes or until crispy and golden brown. Remove and drain on crumbled kitchen paper.

Otherwise, why would Malaysians localized the saying, "Selling like hot cakes" to hot banana fritters? grin

from the Philippines -- pork sinigang (pork cuts in tamarind soup with vegetables)

from Thailand/Singapore -- roti with curry sauce (i know it's not "cuisine" but i so love it!)

I absolutely love Indian food! all the interesting flavors and spices! I especially love Tandoori Chicken and Garlic Naan! mmmm! I'm hungry now frown
Any Thai curries or seafoods
Mine is adobo from the PHilippines. smile
Sounds like I've some recipes to find and try out. I'm heading out for Thai food tonight and will be looking for a new favorite.

My favorite dish is bun cha in Ha Noi. Soooo good.
