Human Rights????
What about the rights for Adults Abused as Children?
Right, there is no such law.
The oxymoron is that childhood abuse is a crime, but the status of the crime ceases to exist as soon as the childhood abused is an adult. Ergo, no crime was committed and legally, such groups of traumatized adults do not exist. The childhood abused adult is again abandoned, by law now, ignored by society, belittled, shamed and blamed for what they endured as helpless children.
The mentally, psychologically, physically and sexually abused adult who was abused in childhood must go on with life the best way he/she can, hiding their suffering, pretending and functioning in daily life without revealing their early childhood suffering, to prevent society from shunning them or labeling them as an outcast. How many adults abused as children exist in the world today? How many are there all around the world still suffering?
Adults abused as children is the biggest denied subject worldwide.
There are only two countries in the world, which recognize the childhood trauma inflicted adults, and that is Ireland and Australia.

That's very interesting about Ireland and Australia, Sieglinde. I'd like to find out more about what they are doing in this area.

Unfortunately, you're right about this problem. Of course, I also wish that there was better protection of children when they're still children. So much abuse goes on with no one ever notifying authorities or having the guts to do anything to stop it.

If we could erase the problem at the source, that could at least save future generations.

Chris
Aren't there adults in the USA who sue even when the statute of limitations is over? Isn't that what many of the victims of abuse by priests are doing now as adults?
What type of program would you like to see enacted for those who were abused as children?
Chris,
thank you for your answer. We have details about the subject on: http://www.aaacworld.org/about/intro.htm

Grim,
the statute of limitations was temp. lifted but all court cases were dismissed after. You can read more about the endless struggle about Adults Abused as Children at: www.aaacworld.org
