Hi all,
This week's article is on maid cafes - where the waitresses are dressed in maid costumes and address customers as "Master" or "Lady". Check it out~

What an interesting article. It would be great to see a pic of you with one of these maids in a cafe! smile

I don't have a scanner, and as I'd mentioned in the article, we're only allowed instant photo-taking, so I took the photos of THOSE photos and put them up here. The pictures are kinda blurry, hope you don't mind~

This one was taken at the samurai-themed cafe.

This one was taken at a rather big-name cafe.

AAH! KAWAIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!

LOL! smile

I told my family about the maid cafes and they thought it was funny until the ear cleaning part. They thought that was a gross! LOL.

Hahaha! I think it's more weird than gross, and those who do go get their ears cleaned at those places seem like a sorry bunch. Like the Japanese guy who married a Nintendo DS video game character and went overseas on a honeymoon with "her" in Guam. They even had an actual wedding ceremony! This happened back in 2009.

Are those maids trained in ear cleaning? I mean, they could do some serious damage in your ears!

As for the guy who married his game character...wow...now I am worried. My kids are such techno geeks. They are gamers who play WoW and Star Wars online. ALL THE TIME!!! My daughter was infatuated with her character's sidekick. I think she needs to see a doctor!

Being Japan, I won't be surprised if they ARE trained in ear cleaning...

I think you don't have to worry about your kids marrying some game character or something... They're still young right? Below 20, I guess? Plus, they don't live in a Japanese environment. ;p

I was a pretty hardcore gamer myself in my younger days. At one period in time (around age 13~16), me and my buddies were obsessed with anime, in particular female anime characters. We felt that anime girls were the best, as real girls have flaws. We talked and argued about which anime/game girl was better. ;p

I've grown out of it, though. Now, I play games mainly to kill time. I still watch anime, but I'm no longer obsessed with it.

Still, spending too much time on video games is not a good thing, though, and I can say that because I've been in your kids' shoes once. Just make sure it doesn't adversely affect their school and social life, and they should be fine.

Uh, that is why I am so concerned. They are NOT that young!!! They are 24 and 26. sigh...

Could be worse. I saw a tv show where this man was in love with his full-size doll.

Mmmm... Well, maybe it takes a wee bit longer time for them to reach full maturity...
And you're right, it's better than falling in love with a doll, full-size or not. Ah well, one person's poison is another's meal. ;p
