So last night's new small group Bible study wasn't what I thought, but better then I expected. It's Christian Stewardship Life Management Study Course by Ken Smith. While it is a Church Group, it does not really focus on prayer. It focuses on getting control of your life, freeing yourself from over commitment, knowing what's not really important to your life and discovering God's plan.

There is about 20-30 minutes of daily homework. It includes activities, reading and memorizing. Prior students have said it's a lot of work but well worth it. The great thing is that there are "consequences" if you have not done the homework to the satisfaction of the leader, you are not allowed to participate in the discussion session, you must sit there silent.

It's a 12 week course and we need to attend a minimum of 10 to get a certificate. I'm pretty excited about it.
That sounds great. I've been disappointed over the years as I can never find a quality and meaty study. The few that are in the area, and I mean few, do not get deep into the Word and the participates would rather gossip. Very discouraging.

Glad you are in a good one.
Wow Dianne - it sounds very exciting! I can't wait to hear how it goes for you throughout the coming weeks.
So far in week two, it's been great. We only have 5 people in the class which makes for greater fellowship and getting to know others in the class.

I was able to memorize my bible verse last week. This week is Jeremiah 29:11. This week we have to keep track of our time on a daily basis to see where we spend our time.
Oh, this is cool Dianne!

I remember one afternoon discovering that I'd been on Magic Inlay - a computer game - for like four hours :shocked;

That would be a fun project for like a week - just to see where our attention is going!

What was your verse last week?
Last week it was Psalm 129:16 All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
I do think that tracking how you spend your time for a day or two can be an eye opening exercise. It can help you realize how you are spending your time, and what you might want to tweak.

It can seem a pain at first to do the tracking but you fall into a rhythm pretty quickly smile
It has been so far. We have to do it for 12 weeks. This first week it's general tracking - for example if we are at work - we can just write work. As the weeks move forward, we have to be more detailed. This week is a little different since I'm on vacation with my sis from CA visitng so the majority of the time will be sightseeing, but I still need to get in my homework, writing and other stuff.
