definetly meeting the basic living costs.
I take home $1555 a montha and my expenses are $1900. Was doing ok, till I got lost that part time job where I was bringing in and extra $5-600 a month. Now I am desperate for another part time job, but am having a hard time finding something I like to do that wont stress me out too much.

I have no savings acct and if I lost my job today, I would lose my car, my rented room and everything I have worked so hard to get... (place to live being #1) I would have no health care. I also have no family I can ask for help from...so...I would end up becoming a homeless woman ont he street. Sucks to think about it, doesnt it???

We have just started using a budget and saving and the stress has went down, we did have sacrafice alot of things that were luxeries but it has been well worth it when it comes down to stress issues.. Dave Ramesy does seminars and travels all over and has a radio show on ktok. Check out his website.. Its easy to read a fast read and very basic. [color:"purple"] [/color]

to meet the utility bills - electricity, gas and telephone. with the inflation in double digits in my country, its really a tough job to make the both ends meet.

My car's exhaust has nearly fallen off for the second time in a year, so it looks like I have to get another one, which wasn't in the budget. So I have to find one that is reliable, inexpensive, and gets great gas mileage. We'll see what I can do.

I have already spent $1000 that I did not have on my car this year, and the problem STILL isn't fixed. It still stalls while driving. Maybe I need to move on to another car, instead of throwing money into this one.

Maybe I should sell this one and fix up my non-running jeep.

Dear Jilly -

Normally I tend to be a person who will fix an existing car rather than replacing it, because I have a feeling that it is the cheaper route. But I think you're right. At some point one has to realize that this solution just isn't working and it's better to move on to a better solution.

A non-reliable car is a great source of stress, and it's better to cut the losses and move on to a more reliable situation.

I'm about at that point with my Subaru. I love it, but I just can't depend on it any more, and I need to remove that stress. Maybe you're at that point with yours too.

At this point I've had the same problem looked at by seven different people, and no one can fix this. There is probably some kind of weird electrical problem hidden in there.

Getting stranded in the middle of the hot, vast desert on my way home from San Diego was not a fun experience. frown

The previous owner also had this problem, but he thought he had put a sort of fix in it. That's why I got it at a very good price.

I don't think I am going to make a change any time soon, since it will stress me out to have to clean up the car, make an ad and talk to people while selling it.

But i definitely think this car isn't going to be fixable for some reason.

Lisa, what things are going on with your subaru that have you worried?

I had bought a 2 year old Grand Prix, which I absolutely loved back in 2009. I adored that car. I also bought an extended warranty which would last until the car got to 80400 miles.

About 1000 miles from the end of the warranty, I decided I really needed to get a new car because in the almost three years I had it, they had to replace the water pump and a couple of other major parts, They were supposed to replace the transmission last year, but I found out this year, they had only "fixed" it and it was going again - exactly a month after the 12 month guarentee on the "fix" expired and 1000 miles from the end of my extended warranty. As much as I loved that car, I could not come off the warranty with it because everything they fixed was a minimum of $2000 dollars to fix and I only had to pay $50 each time for the warranty deductible.

So I bought another used car, a 2011 Altima with 7000 miles on it and another extended warranty. Car repair is just way too expensive.

I don't like car payments, but just one major repair on any car without a warranty would wipe me out!!!

I have a desire to get an older, simpler car, without any computers in it, and learn to fix that. Like a Chevy truck.

One of the places to take Dave Ramsey's classes is at your local Y. And the Y is also a place where you can get financial aid if you want to become a member.

I want to have enough money set aside to move away from my parents. I want them gone from my life totally and in addition not end up in the street. I am far from rich and I do not have a high education so I need an apartment that a minimum wage job will take care of in case this is all I can get wherever I end up.
