Does anyone else think that Maddie McCann's parents had something to do her disappearance? It seems strange that parents would leave their very small children in a hotel room alone, even if they were checking back every 15-20 minutes.

If someone did steal her from the room, watching the room and knowing the parents movements would most likely have been required. What are the odds that a random stranger would break between check-ins? This leads me to suspect that this was someone the family had become acquainted with and the McCanns must have filled them in on what they would be doing that evening or it was the parents themselves. I believe it was the parents although the motive is unclear.

Anyone have any theories or thoughts on the case?
If they didn't have something to do with her disappearance, then they should at least be punished for leaving her and the other kids alone. I do not care where they were.....they had no business being away from her.

They were "close by"......well - I guess not close enough.
Oh, I definitely agree they should be punished. If they were in the US, the mere fact that they left 3 underage children alone would land them in jail.

I believe the twins should have been removed from their custody. What gets me the most is the fact that they're both "doctors". That goes to show that being smart doesn't mean you automatically have common sense.

Well, I think they should be brought up on charges of child neglect/endangerment. If they are not directly responsible for the disappearance of their child, their neglect certainly contributed towards her disappearance.
This is a nightmare situation. All the more so when I think back two years when my daughter and son-in-law took two children on holiday to the very same place.

Every time I look at the movies of that holiday I see so many opportunities and 'weirdos' watching the children in the water and playing. It is a very friendly place and everyone mucks in and gets on with everyones else's children. Quite understandable for people to feel 'safe' as if they were in their own home environment.

Even so my grandchildren would never have been left alone and they were two years older than Maddie. There is no excuse and these parents behaved in a gross and negligent manner. I agree that they should be prosecuted for that fact alone.

The other connotations of this do not bear thinking about. The possibility of a cranky mother, stressed out by a socialite of a husband demanding constant attention, giving the child an accidental overdose of some sleeping medication and causing accidental death seems in my mind, the most likely possibility.

Having to cover up such an awful event, because they are both doctors, would explain the totally overblown campaign since.

However young girls and boys have been and always will be abducted for horrible purposes. The dreadful child porn industry which is one of the biggest businesses on this planet, to the utter shame of all of us, will forever need victims. The insatiable demand for thousands of images from each 'member' dictates that children will be abused the moment your back is turned. Knowing this and being in a foreign country in an area where there are quite a few pedophiles means those parents were totally negligent to all the children.

They were on holiday, that country adores children and there is no reason not to have the children with you while you eat or have fun.

Continentals eat with their kids in the evening...children sleep in the afternoons usually watched over by granny or auntie and get up around 6 pm for supper...they then go to bed later when it is cool.

Only the British seem to think it ok to keep children up all day in the hot sun and put them away at night when they could be enjoying the cooler evenings. Of course granny is consigned to the care-home and never taken on family holidays!

In the UK people have to put up with the fear that predatory convicted child abusers could be living within yards of their homes, released back into society by the feeble law here that is infested with the worst kind of perverts.
All those who have allowed themselves to fall to this sickness should be castrated on conviction. It is always a matter of moral self control in the early stages...in the latter phases it is uncontrollable madness.

We are all responsible when terrible things happen to children due to our namby pamby attitude to perversions. The fact that police have millions and millions of child abuse images on file yet do precious little to prevent them being published is as disgusting as the knowledge they have of every drug producing country's port of departure for the stuff that destroys our kids without taking action.

These two vile trades are big business...they are the reason why seemingly unemployable beasts in society become millionaires and why a mere judge or police officer or minor politician lives in a virtual palace with several motor vehicles, servants and a chain of mistresses that require large expense accounts!

We are all daft!

My mind still boggles at the huge number of things that could have happened to those kids while left alone. What if one fell? Hit their head? Started choking on something? How could the 4 year old possibly cope with that? My mom wouldn't leave me home alone until I was in 6th grade smile
