Edward G Robinson takes one of his friendlier roles in The Woman in the Window, a noir mystery directed by Fritz Lang.

This movie was described by Variety magazine as a "... strong and suspensful melodrama ..." and I would agree with that. Even having seen the movie several times before, I still found myself holding my breath at some of the edge-of-seat scenes.

Have you seen this movie? Do you like Edward G Robinson in his hardbitten gangster roles, or as the mild mannered professor he is here?

Joan Bennett, her then husband Walter Wanger, and director Fritz Lang formed a production company after making The Woman in the Window.

The following year, 1945, they released Scarlet Street, another film noir with the same lead actors - Joan, Edward G Robinson and Dan Duryea. A very good movie.
