Hi Jeanne,

I read somewhere recently that Louisianna Voodoo originated from tribes in Africa. Do you have any information on that? This subject really interests me. I also found out that the Creole peoples are a race mix of Black, Indian (Native American) and French. Do you have any information on that - I plan to do some research for an article, just thought I would check with you first to see if you can enlighten me on the subject.

I know the African culture is very strong in the Louisianna area.

Phyllis,

This link has some info for you and says the origin is from Haiti. Hope it helps.

I guess it would be rather difficult to tie in voodoo with a Native American article. The Creole people might be a better option to research for an article I could do.

I tend to agree with Vance that the voodoo in LA is from Haiti or the Caribbean. However, some of those people are originally from West Africa - Benin, Togo, Ghana, Nigeria, Ivory Coast via the slave trade. There is a lot of voodoo in that region of Africa.
