I've often thought back to when I was little. When it was time to make things in class and someone brought out the glitter, eager little hands started grabbing for those flecks of sparkling stuff! We wanted all the colors on our project to take home and show everyone. It was amazing the joy those tiny pieces of plastic brought, and how it somehow made me feel my craft was more sophisticated than just a child's classroom art.

To this day I still love my glitter! I use it in lots of projects, like cards or pins. It still makes me feel there is something magical in it, and I'm fascinated by the super-fine glitters they have now-so tiny you can't see their structure-and how much sparkle they have. I call them my "bling blings" and my daughter says it means I'm a sea nymph because I horde sparkly things. I figure it's either that, or I'm a troll...

Do you have any special memories of glitter?

I teach in a "tiny tots" class at a preschool and I love having glitter on my little munchkins masterpieces.
I don't know what it is with that stuff, but all the colors and textures of it are amazing.

Yes, me too! I absolutely loved getting each and every color possible in my bag for my art class. At home, I used to play around and make some sort of weird drawings and stuff using all the glitter..!
The micro glitter is fascinating stuff...so tiny! I'd love to see it made on one of those "How It's Made" shows.
Glitter has always intrigued me. It takes something bland and turns into something with pizzazz! In the mixed-media art work I practice at, I always find myself using a glitter glue pen or glitter in there. It just seems so empty without it.

Look at the response you got to the glitter thread! It is something special, and now that I have kids I am constantly reminded of what I used to think about glitter - it just makes an art project that much more special! I really do need to buy some to break out with the kiddos next time we are making art.

I love glitters as well even thought I am not a little girl any more, when I am young, the passion for collecting glitters are really nice, i would always keep those feelings deep down my heart, and those that are really nice I would call them bling as well! You see, so many of us are still insisting the favor for bling, just because they are magic enough to bring us back to the past in addition to their exquisite appearance!!
