Removing Fixed Asset from Quickbooks - 09/22/10 04:52 AM
Back in 2004 I bought a Sony Laptop and the person who helps me with my taxes told me to put it into QuickBooks as a "fixed asset". Here it is 2010 and I don't even have that laptop any more, but I still have this line in my chart of accounts for "Sony Laptop" as a fixed asset that shows up on all my reports.
I can't change the original 2004 entry because it's long since been "rolled up" into a summary line and it can't be edited now.
How do I deal with this? How do I indicate this asset is long gone and shouldn't show up any more? I even tried inactivating the entry in the chart of accounts but it still shows up. Same with my Mustang loan which was paid off years ago, and I don't have that Mustang any more.
Help!
