Love this story Deb. Seems some things in nature continue to survive despite us.

Have been following the life of "Lonesome George" since he was discovered, the excitement was enormous amongst those of us not so long out of the "pet tortoise" stage, (incidentally mine died at the grand old age of 50 at least), so was sad when he finally left us in June when he was about 100 years old.

However it appears he really was not so "Lonesome" after all, which would be good because with no offspring, and up until now no known individuals from his subspecies left, he was known as the rarest creature in the world.
