I have a bookcase in my kitchen (it is a small 3 shelf type) and it has overflowed into the computer room and I have filled a shelf in there. I also have some cookbooks on cds. I have thinned out some of my cookbooks, but still am aquiring new ones! Anyone else have this problem?! Hubby is always saying, all these cookbooks yet very few "new" recipes are cooked!!
That's not possible, is it? <img src="/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Your description sounds like my house! I must have 300 or more cookbooks, if I count the old brandname booklets.
I don't have enough shelves for all of them anymore, but I still can't resist buying new ones.

I keep some of the the vintage advertising cookbooks in baskets in my kitchen.

I always seem to come across old, sad looking cookbooks and they say "take me home please"! The other day I bought one for a dollar at an antique store. You could tell it had been used. Those are the ones I really love.

The only way to find out when you have to many is when its use for kitchen wall paper. I only have one and I use the net and print them out then I staple them together. I even have those index cards from like the late 60's early 70's lol. They are yellow and brown I know how gross looking my mom gave them to me.

My mom loves cookbooks and every few years she takes some time and reads through some of them that don't seem to be used anymore. Often she'll copy one or two recipes out of them and then they go to the used book store to be recycled into more "new to her" cookbooks.

Your mom is a smart lady! I do have a few vintage cookbooks that I have just because I think they are interesting. One is a book my great grandmother had. Some of them even give tips on how to keep your man happy LOL

Oh man, I can sure relate. I love cookbooks and read them like novels sometimes. I can never have enough cookbooks it seems.

I've ended up giving a few to my grown daughters and my future daughter-in-law. That helped some but then I just went out and bought some more cookbooks!!! Wouldn't ya know it?
Here's a new recipe for you kitchen, it's from Franceand is Battered Frogs Legs

2 kilo frog legs (or about 12 pairs);
2 eggs, beaten gently, softly;
2 tablespoons salad cream;
1 tablespoon corn starch;
1 tablespoon lemon juice;
 teaspoon baking powder;
 teaspoon salt;
Freshly ground pepper to taste;
Two-thirds cup all-purpose flour;
Third of a cup seasoned dry breadcrumbs;
Vegetable oil

Arrange the legs in a shallow container (a type of dish or bowl). Combine eggs, salad cream, corn starch, lemon juice, baking powder, salt and pepper; stir until smooth and sexy. Pour over the assembled legs; cover and chill for a minimum of 30 minutes. Combine flour and breadcrumbs in a plastic bag. Remove legs from marinade, shaking off excess; place 2 or 3 legs at a time in flour mixture. Actually I feel a bit quesy now so I'll stop.

I actually don't have many cookbooks right now, and I would like to keep it that way. I get so many recipes online, plus I subscribe to a couple of cooking magazines. And I have a friend who's a chef, and she has just about every cookbook in the known universe, so I can borrow from her library and copy any recipes I want.

I had donated some to the local library so that I could go and visit them and feel like at least others might enjoy them as well! I have a ton of clippings from magazines that I need to organize. I have a three ring binder that I keep those in but that needs to be reorganized!
