Anybody watching American Idol. I'm thinking of getting me a 205 jersey. :music: <img src="/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> :music:
I'm watching, though I nearly got gutted by some fans the other day. I was talking about it with my best friend, and some people overheard me say that while I liked carmen I didn't think she was as strong a talent as some of the others.... I live in Utah, so everyone out here wants her to win, and they freaked when I said that lol!
Wow! Trenyce is from my hometime and I understand from my mother-in-law that it is much the same there. However, I think Clay and Reuben will be the last two with Reuben being the big winner.
Which do YOU think will be in the final two?
I don't know... I think a lot of people will feel guilty about not voting for the marine. But I agree, Ruben has a lovely voice. I don't know about clay though... he keeps picking songs that sound alike.. I think if he can spice things up a little he'll go far, but right now everything he sings sounds the same to me (gee I feel like Simon lol!)

Oh, that's a hoot. You like to live dangerously. :rolling:
While I don't think Carmen is as polished as the blonde Kimberly, I think she has more room for growth.
I agree. I think Clay and Rueben will be in the top two. Joshua could probably leave now and get a contract in Nashville. Sings good country :music: , is happily married
with a child, and is a Marine
. A can't be beat combination.

Well, you missed the conversation where I was talking about the sweet couple who thought I was 16, pregnant, with two other kids, unwed lol! I look 16 (I'll be 26 in a few weeks) I was pregnant at the time, and my hands had swollen too large for my wedding rings! lol! The poor couple was traumatized thinking I had two other kids! And then there was the little old lady at the grocery store who made really loud comments about how todays youth disgusted her. Anyway back to the topic, Is it just me, or did Randy seem unhappy with pretty much everyone last tuesday? I mean almost no one could please him! Usually it's simon who's not liking people! I was really surprised to see the kimberly who sang the celine dion song in the bottom three. I hated the blonde kimberly's rendition of one of my favorite songs though.
He seemed unusally critical. While I think Simon's a little over the top sometimes he helps bring some reality to the critiques. How many times can you hear, "oh that was wonderful."
LOL on the pregnancy thing. I had a friend who had the same problem and got a job teaching in a high school. The cafeteria ladies kept yelling at her for sitting at the teaher table.
I actually got in a fight with one of my friends about the whole Simon thing. From my point of view, #1 he is one of the main reasons why people tune in. They want to hear what he'll say next! #2 He is giving the singers a taste of what real music critics and auditions are like. They DONT ahve a paula sitting there liking everyones performances. Personally I think that she is a little too nice, because she went through it herself and knows how much the criticism hurts.
That second point was what caused our fight. He said that no one has the right to bash down another persons dreams... and while I agree, I also know that some realism (I am not including personal attacks when I refer to realism) is required, otherwise we will never grow.
When someone compliments you, we tend to repeat whatever got the compliment (a perfect example was the girl at the begining who kept singing "angel" in all of her auditions... even paula was dissapointed) When we get a negative response we tend to change to make things better. Harsh, but that's the way the world is.

Agreed. They brought her back because they wanted to hear more of her and she just gave them the same.
I think the message that was given early on was an important one. Every performance has to be your best. You have to be prepared to sing anything. Now, not everyone can do that (as we saw with Josh during the Disco week), but they are looking for someone to hand a recording contract to. It's got to be someone who is worth that investment. Harsh? Maybe, but it is the recording
industry.
Yeah, my heart was breaking for Joshua during disco week. He looked like he was in pain. <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
I'm waiting for this coming week's theme. Anybody know what it will be?
Wow! I'm honestly shocked at who was voted off this week (16 April). Not who I was expecting at all.
Same here, I really thought this was it for Carmen. What is up with her sense of fashion?? The dress thingy was AWFUL! and then she comes out with this shirt that has the most icky sleves. I know she can dress better than that. Ah well. I think that if she doesn't improve like NOW she's gonna be gone this next round.
You and were on the same trail. I thought Carmen was going to be packing her bags. I think she was shocked. If something drastic doesn't happen it's her turn this week.
Is it just me, or are they REALLY milking this show for all they can get this year?
Yes, I think they are moooooolking it for every minute they can.
I wish the celebrity judges did more than take up space.
Yeah, it's almost like they are afraid to give criticism. I think they feel uncomfortable having to judge these kids singing a rendition of THEIR song (at least with the last judge it seemed that way)
It was interesting to see the Neil Sedaka had notes prepared. Someone did homework for his appearance.
What a hard decison. Which of three great singers is going to go. Well, by now, it's no secret it was Kimberly.
I just want to make a suggestion. Give us a CD with all three of the finalists. I'd buy it in a second.
Oh, and when Justin came on to do his song, all I could was compare him to Clay. Clay is 100% better. Clay even managed to sing my favorite song Tuesday and not have me cringe. I usually hate it when anyone else does it.
heh, well I never realy liked justins singing,. He always leaned too heavily on his looks rather than his talent. Bothered me.
