Where are some interesting places you've done yoga? What made them special to you?

I've mentioned Kripalu before, it's a retreat in western Massachusetts. It's nestled in rolling hills and mossy forests. I adore it there. It has delicious food too. Unfortunately it's a bit pricey so that was a one time splurge for me.

When we had our BellaOnline gathering in San Diego, CA I brought my yoga mat and did yoga each morning by the water. The seagulls were soaring, the breeze was drifting, and I loved it.

I do love my normal daily yoga looking out into my quiet forested back yard with chickadees, titmice, nuthatches, and so on keeping me company smile. In the summer when I can be on my outside porch, I get hummingbirds and dragonflies too. Each season has its own special treats smile.

Hi Lisa, Feel like I'm there with you. Each place sounds special. I've done Yoga in many places too. The Ashram in India that I mentioned, close to Dandi Beach with the sun rising what pretty amazing. The Healing Fields at Glastonbury Festival. I was working there giving treatments and started each morning with a Yoga session. There were lots of us doing it together and although it rained the whole festival it was lovely to connect with the earth/mud each day. Similarly at the Buddhafields Festival. There is something lovely about a large group flowing together. This year I spent some time in South America and did Yoga over looking some lovely beaches in Lima. Early morning seems to work best for me. Stretching into the day as daylight breaks and the blue skies are revealed. Another special place was round the pool at a hotel in Egypt overshadowed by the Pyramids. Was really spectacular. Also round the pool in Bali and on a beach in Perth. Some mornings in the Spring / Summer I get my mat out in the back garden an start the day with a Yoga session outside. Usually the grass is a bit wet. I love to be outdoors connecting wtih nature :) Anyone else done their Yoga practise anywhere interesting?

Wow Tracy you have been some spectacular places!

What was the Ashram like? Was it large or small? Was it primarily international visitors, or mostly locals?

Hi Lisa,

I know, I'm very lucky to have been to so many lovely places smile

When I stayed at the Ashram it was predominantly International students. It is a place for deep meditation/contemplation and surrender of self. A lot of the time was spent in silence or listening the the Guru.

Many people who worked there came from all over India as a sign of their devotion to the Guru and dedicate their lives to serving the Ashram and it's community.

It was a very beautiful and humbling experience. When I was there in 2007 the Ashram was still in the early stages of development and a lot of the facilities were basic. Made for character building stuff!
