Could you plesae explain how you celebrate Sinterklaas, and why.
Thousands of years ago there was this Turkish man, sorta like a priest who wasn't very rich but did spend almost all his money for children. He died 6 December and we celebrate his kindness on 5 December by giving presents to little children. When he died the Spanish people who were there at the time moved the grave to Spain to honour him or something. So now we have a man, fancy clothed with a white horse who has all kinds of helpers with him and he brings gifts to children every year. We make little children believe that he still lives and every year he comes by and gives you loads of presents (ofcourse the parents buy the gifts and do as if he gave them). It's all really fun when your a kid, you get really excited
You know what I don't understand, Sinterklaas is so much alike Santa Claus (even the name) I don't really understand either?!?!??? because we also have Santa Claus?!?!???
Well my family still celebrates it it's sorta like christmas, anyway it's kewl cuz I got some crazey [censored] like:
an SOAD poster
a poster size pic of Avril
3 movies : Scary movie 2, Snatch and Idle hands
a sk8erchain, a overzeas keycord, an awesome game creation book with program, a cocktail mixer and some other stuff pretty weird stuff if you read it... anyway it was pretty fun
So you are given presents twice?
first from Sinterklaas and then a couple of days later from Santa claus?
We are only given from Santa.
Well that's only a few families who do it that way, I mean we only celebrate Sinterklaas, and others only celebrate Santa Clause... and very few celebrate both..
