Many Christians observe Lent with special practices and services. Some equally sincere Christians don't observe Lent. What does Lent mean to you?
Please read my article about Lent.

The Meaning of Lent

Psalm 51:17 The psalmist says that sacrifice God wants is a broken spirit. A broken and repentant heart. That's the sacrifice that God loves. God requires that we circumsize our hearts, He has to be Lord overall or He isnt Lord at all. This giving up items for lent isnt biblical at all, He wants us on His alter, each individual, as its a relationship we have with Jesus not a religion.

It is often suggested not to give up anything at all for Lent but to do something for Lent and then continue thereafter - We need to follow the Lord's suggestions as in the Sermon on the Mount and remember His commandment, "you shall love your neighbor as yourself. Even prayer is action.

Something to think about regarding denial (giving up items for lent) - it reminds us how difficult it is to let go our addictions or anxieties.
