I found this article this morning and it makes total sense:

I'm not sure that I agree with that, actually. The full sensor is in your stomach, past where the taste buds are <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> You are full when your stomach is full, physically.

However, I think what happens when you taste lots of different flavors is that you eat more quickly, so you get more food into you before you realize you are full. Also, even if you feel full, you stuff more food in. I was doing that just the other day, Bob made me some delicious food and I *knew* I was full but kept eating it. I finally had to put the plate into the other room to stop eating it.
