Children with Down syndrome have a higher incidence of heart problems. Some babies require surgery within the first year of life. Due to the great strides in surgical techniques and medical support, children's heart issues can be resolved with a quicker recovery than seems possible to families and friends. I'm so thankful to see how much better children feel after the surgery; not only while playing or competing in sports but just running around in everyday life.
