Support groups and advocacy organizations can find out more about welcoming and supporting military families affected by childhood disabilities through resources online and via local or regional military installations and hospitals.

There are many challenges faced by military families raising children with disabilities, chronic health conditions, or other special needs. Common problems are frequent moves; IEPs that do not transfer; lengthy or closed waiting lists; insurance coverage rules; and military-related difficulties. Just like everyone else, a lack of information about local resources and opportunities are often greater challenges than a child's diagnosis.
