My youngest son's teacher's son (whew! that is a mouthful!) has stage 4 Hodgkin's disease and is going to be having a bone marrow transplant as soon as his blood levels recover from his most recent round of chemo... I asked her if I could make him a quilt... and she was just thrilled. His one interest was LSU and I put out pleas for help obtaining LSU material - we don't get it here in Alabama... and I had two people come to my rescue... which I am so grateful for. Here is my finished quilt! I'm quite pleased with it and he absolutely loved it. I backed it with fleece so it was extra warm for the hospital. I did the football stippling on my embroidery machine - which I digitized the design for... I just wanted to share my most recent creation! I also made a tote bag to take it to the hospital - It is two sided - purple on one side and this yellow print on the other and it can also be turned inside out with the LSU fabric on the inside... Very nice looking. Looks like a good pattern for a boy. How old is he? What size is it; it looks like it is throw or lap size?

It is 50"x46"... He's 13 so I didn't want to do anything too country. Originally I was going to do the disappearing 9 patch then at the last minute decided I was going to do a stack and whack crazy quilt and after I made the first cut I changed my mind then with a few carefully placed cuts got it to what it is now... It was a relatively quick one to sew up too which was nice. I am planning on starting a few more for the same ICU that he is in - but for the upcoming winter holidays. My son's teacher said that she would like to start making quilts for next year to give away to the kids. I told her that I would be up for making some... I have a lot of girly flowery fabric that my boys won't appreciate ;)
