I am looking at the purchasing the Z44 Quilting Frame instead of the EZ3 frame. It has a work area of 14" and is flexible from a crib size quilt up to a King size quilt. It is a little more expensive, but I think the extra cost will be worth it. It also folds down to 15" hight which is great and can fit under some beds, if there is a need to get it out of the way.

If anyone has a Grace Z44 frame, can they please advise what they think of it. As I am a hand quilter, and have always done it by hand, I am just finding it harder as I get older to lift the large quilts around whilst quilting. I do not want to go to machine quilting as I really like the hand quilting, so hence my enquiring about a frame.

I don't have that (or either) of those frames, I have an old old Sears frame that goes from a double to (with extensions) a king. It has about a 15-16" quilting area across. I love love love hand quilting. I only machine quilt (on my sewing machine) when I'm in a time-crunch.

Thanks for that - I too love hand quilting and use my machine only when I have to. I think this frame sounds similar to yours and I am now convinced I need to have it.

Thanks for your input.

Mine is my 2nd one. I had to search high and low for it. This is a cheap model, but I like it LOL. The first one was a casualty of sons rough housing frown They were lucky they got to grow up LOL

Hi Sara,

I know exactly what you are talking about. Mind you life is quieter without them. We are due to have our first grandchild in 7 weeks, so we are very excited.

Thanks again for your input. When you live as far away as New Zealand and you cannot physically see one, you really need to do your homework before spending what will be around $800 NZ Dollars.

I actually purchase a lot from the States. I find it exciting waiting for my next parcel to come in. I have them sent to me at work, and my work mates, really cannot understand my excitement. It's like Christmast all over again.

Great talking to another quilter.
