I was putting the binding on my quilt and it got under the footrest of my recliner and got grease on the back of the quilt. Suggestions for cleaning. Spot clean? Cleaners? This was to be a Christmas gift and I am just sick over this. Help

I've been waiting for a response from any one more qualified than I consider myself. But since no one has, this is my opinion.

I think, in all cases, when a quilt is finished and before it is used or given to someone it needs to be cleaned. Clean it in whatever manner is necessary based on the fabrics - in my 'world' that is machine washing.

If you expect your gift to be used, you should expect that it will need to be cleaned from time to time. Clean it however you would recommend to your gift recipient. (If you will be machine washing, you should probably use a spot treatment with a degreaser.)

Sorry this is probably too late now but Jenny who works with us says that baby wipes will get anything off fabric. I have tried them on grubby marks on upholstery with great success. Only down side is that the smell always reminds me of a dirty nappy!!!! Penny
