I have heard about the drought in Australia for a couple of months, but didn't realize the severity until this morning when I heard about all the wildfires. Are any of them close to you? Even when fires are distances away, there is usually some effect. Are you dealing with any problems? Is your daughter's area OK?

The death toll surprised me. The fires must be moving awfully fast.

Thankyou, sweet ladies for your concern. I'm fine, infact, we're situated fair smack between the raging fires to the south(700 miles) and the worst floods in history to the north (700 miles). Australia is like that, always extremes in weather. My daughter is fine too, they're in the west where it's very dry and desolate.

I can't get my head around what's happened either. Lying in bed last night, thinking not only of the many fatalities, but of those who have lost everything. Everything. I can't imagine what that would be like.

My quilt heart says "make quilts", as those in the south will be needing bedding by about April, as it starts to get quite cold then. I'm off to my guild meeting tomorrow and I'll be putting forward the possiblity of starting a Quilting Bee for those in need.

Hi Judie, I was very upset to here the unhappy news of the people that have died and for those that are suffering in the wake of all that has happened. I would like to donate a quilt. If this is appopropriate,is there an address to send it to. Olivier111

Judie, We are not getting very much coverage of the fires any longer. Are they under control now? The last I had heard the death toll was close to 200. Please tell me it didn't get much worse than that. What did your guild decide to do?

The affected people are still in my thoughts and prayers.
