Unemployment can create a vicious cycle. If you're unable to pay the bills, you may be unable to get a job, especially if employers conduct credit checks. Learn how credit can affect your job search and what you can do to address it with potential employers.

How Credit can Affect Your Job Search

Has your credit ever prevented you from getting a job?

It happened to me over 20 years ago. After a really great interview, they never called back. When the job was re-advertised I applied again, they interviewed and hired me. Come to find out that they didn't hire me the first time because of my credit. I also found out they had discussed my credit with everyone in the office.

I exceeded their expectations and 5 years later was hired by the company that processed their payroll. :-) After that my career pretty much took off and my credit definitely improved after I got divorced. :-)

Has credit ever prevented you from getting a job?
