Besides using coupons and buying food on sale, you can actually change your food shopping behaviors at the store to save massively over time. Frugal Grocery Shopping Basics Do you have any grocery shopping tips to share?

To Jilly,
Great article. Here in Canada we get a plastic bag with the weeks savings from every shopping strore, usually on thursdays. So I check one store's list and what i find a bargain and cut it up,I do that with every store and only buy what is on sale. At the same store ,one week the raisins were at 99 cents a pound. Went there yesterday they were at $2.89 a pound.Same raisins.
One must really verify where the prices are the lowest. We are lucky the 3 supermarkets are next to another.
Loong,

loong, that is great you can price check so easily with your stores being close by!
I find myself keeping a Price Book so I would know, for example, to not buy raisins unless they are 99 cents a pound or less. Then at those times I would stock up!

I do want to add that with coupon stacking (ie - mixing a coupon with a sale, or using a store coupon WITH a manufacturer's coupon) you can get great gobs of food and supplies for very little actual cash. But this does take quite a bit of study and WORK to use these principles - mainly time spent researching, reading and folllowing up on the right situations at the right moment.
If anyone has any coupon questions, i am happy to talk about it.

To Jilly,
I also watch what advertising there is on the net. Got in the mail a$2.00 rebate on Kashi Pita crisps zesty salsa. They were at $3.89,with my rebate paid only $ 1.89.great saving.Trying them out now with a Spinach dip for my desert.
Keep on.I really like your articles, another not too rich person.
Many thanks loong
