I am looking for an old recipe that my grandmother use to make. It was a light pastry that was fried in hot oil then she covered it honey and confectionery sugar. They were called kurtalas not sure of the spelling. She is 95 I asked her she said they took long to make and they had a lot of eggs in them. Any ideas?

I thought the little fried dough balls were made at Christmas not Easter. They also make a fried dough that looks a lot like the Polish Crusticki which are sort of liek bowties.

Mexican sopapillos are similar, but flat instead of balls.
