Studies have already shown that when you force yourself to smile, it makes you feel happier. That is, just the action of your mouth curving into a smile triggers relaxation hormones in you. So being aware of your facial gestures and "putting on a smile" helps to relax and gentle your mood.

Researcher Amy Cuddy went one step further, and found that specific poses greatly enhance your feeling of calm and reduce fears. So if you're about to go into a stressful situation - or if you're feeling stressed - doing these things have measurable effects on your body chemistry.

And it only takes TWO MINUTES for these effects to take place. Your body's levels of testosterone and cortisol change in those brief two minutes!

Here's the talk -

Power Posting Talk on TED

Definitely make the time to watch this. With all the stress we're under, this is a FREE, quick, easy way to make a significant difference.

It's amazing how many people choose to be in a "powerless" pose - and then it damages their mood - and the cycle continues!

Isn't that amazing Tina? To think how many people are in a way "self sabotaging" and stealing their own energy without even knowing it. Such a simple change, and their life could improve drastically.

It is funny how our body's are prepared to deal with things even when our thoughts say otherwise. This, I think, is part of the reason why smiling is contagious. Thank you for sharing the awesome video.
