Hi Sandy,

I'm starting to think of beverages for Turkey Day & found a recipe for a Thanksgiving Cosmo - below.

Do you think this will be yummy or too tart because of the fresh/canned cranberry used instead of cranberry juice that has sugar added?

3 oz orange vodka
1.5 oz Cointreau
3 tablespoons fresh or canned cranberry sauce
Lime juice
A sprig of rosemary

Combine everything except the rosemary in a blender with 2 ice cubes until smooth. Strain into glasses and garnish with rosemary.

Thanks.

That sounds great. I gotta try that on Thanksgiving!

I think it sounds great, too!

Cranberries are so very tart that even the canned and handmade cranberry sauces have sugar in them. You might want to take it for a test drive before the big day, just to see. If you need to add some sweetness, maybe substitute the straight lime juice for a splash or two of Rose's sweetened lime juice. That stuff is yummy!

I've got to catch up with my BellaOnline writing; that's one of my biggest plans for the weekend. I'll write an article on drinks to serve with turkey and link to your recipe here in this forum, if that's OK with you, Anna.

And thank you so much for posting it. I don't have any of those ingredients on hand but they're on my shopping list now! smile

Excellent Sandy! Fine with me.

I'm looking forward to the articles -- I'm sure there will be some vodka in there somewhere......

Happy writing to you.

PS - Don't forget to keep the vodka in the freezer like all good Russian girls do. cool

Oh, Anna, I've had a real yucky afternoon trying to work. It's yucky because it is but I keep sneaking away to your posts and you've made the afternoon bearable. You've had me laughing when I've been tempted to scream. Or cry.

This once-upon-a-time Russian diva does NOT have a bottle of vodka in the freezer but as soon as she replaces the one she polished off last night, it's going into deep chill mode. I'm about ready for that myself. You are fun! laugh

You are super fun too!

Hey! The other half had an idea over dinner tonight....

TO KICK UP THE TURKEY DAY COSMO.....

Add some RED BULL to the mix .... and voila! You can counteract the effects of the tryptophan in the turkey and party all night!!!

Or else you can try this before you start cooking, before the guests arrive and the insanity sets in!

Sandy...also the title of my favorite songs by Bruce Springsteen, the Boss....

And if the creative juices aren't flowing... heck...

Here is a food for thought- a beverage from the RUSSIAN TEA ROOM, named the Rasputin:

Hypnotic, nutty and seductive FRANGELICO
and VODKA!

DO you think a 1:1 is a good proportion?

DA -- Yes -- says the russkaya devochka.
